“Named in homage to its founder, Gambert de Loche, this is one of the top wines from the Tain cooperative. It is young in color, with fresh fruit and solid tannins. The flavors of cranberries and blackcurrants just emphasize the dryness of the wine. A serious wine that will develop well over 5-10 years.” - 90 points, Wine Enthusiast
“A single vineyard wine with 20 months in French oak, which is countercultural in its elegant, medium-bodied profile and moderate alcohol; red fruits and touches of mocha and chocolate predominate.” – 94 points, James Halliday
“This wine has the multi-layered flavors promised by the bouquet, and more texture from the fine, ripe tannins which run through the medium- to full-bodied palate and lingering aftertaste.” – 96 points, James Halliday, 2007
Produced from grapes grown on a steep, terraced hillside in the Gimplett Gravels district of Hawk'e Bay. The wine is dense with ripe, spice and berryfruit flavours. Like the wines of the northern Rhone it is more about texture and complexity than intense fruit flavours. Good food wine with great potential. A very sophisticated Syrah.

“Has not dissimilar texture and weight to the standard shiraz, but much greater intensity to the cascade of black fruits which are beautifully tempered by savoury tannins to provide flavour and structural balance.
The Rumball Vintage Sparkling Shiraz has been made from 100% Coonawarra Shiraz. The best base wines are set aside each year for a small vintage tiraging. The 1997 Vintage is the first of the vintage wines and is now released. The Vintage Sparkling Shiraz wines are the main wines entered in Australian Wine Shows.
This wine, with its deep garnet colour and aroma of spices and preserved fruits, is wonderfully full-bodied with a taste reminiscent of vanilla and liquorice. With its good structure, robust tannins and lovely ripe fruit when young, it benefits from several years' ageing.
Attractive, supple wine with good floral, cherry and pepper characters. The wine , which includes a blend of Viognier, has good acidity, fine tannins and moderate length. A fairly serious Syrah with moderate cellaring potential.
